JKPPS Overview

J&K Police Public School Bemina Srinagar was founded on Oct, 21-2000 (Under the auspices of J&K; Police Department). The prime purpose of opening the school was to impart education to the children who have become orphans due to turmoil in the state. The institution was inaugurated by the then DGP Mr. Gurbachan Jagat, IPS.The School was initially functional upto 5th primary and was housed in a small building located in Police Housing Colony, Qamarwari. Managing Committee comprising of Wives of the Police officers, headed by Madam DGP J&K;, was formed to take all decisions regarding the working of the institution. It was decided by the Managing Committee that the children of the Police Personnel who had lost their lives in any encounter will be provided free education. With the passage of time there was an over response. It was at this stage that the civilians observing the better performance of the institution sought to get their wards admitted in school.

Since the institution was meant for only Police Personnel, therefore the school administration approached Madam DGP (Mrs. Jagat) who was Chairperson of PPS at that time, It was given a serious thought and was decided that civilians should also be given admission in the institution but will be charged double the fee as compared to Police Personnel.

Since there was tremendous increase in the role of institution, therefore there was a need for new building also. Hence, a new building was constructed at PHC Bemina and the school was shifted on 26.06.2006. The school has raised the expectations level of people and school is giving best results in terms of education and extra co-curricular activities.
